Jörg Immendorff (*14 June 1945 in Bleckede, † 28 May 2008 in Düsseldorf)
Immendorff studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, from 1964 under Joseph Beuys. By the early 1980s, Immendorff was one of the most famous German artists of the present day. Friendship and joint work with A. R. Penck and numerous other artists. Particularly based/active in Düsseldorf. A central motif of Immendorff is the monkey ("painter monkey").
