Arno Breker (*19 July 1900 in Elberfeld, † 13 February 1991 in Düsseldorf) was a German sculptor and architect.
Breker's first artistic successes were in France until 1934; he returned to Germany in 1934. His work during the National Socialist dictatorship is still controversial today. Although he was classified as a "fellow traveller", he was highly controversial throughout his life, and the accusation of a lack of remorse stuck with him in particular.
His artistic ability is undisputed. Before and after the Nazi era, he made a name for himself in particular with the design of portrait busts, which brought him international recognition - including among numerous artists such as Salvador Dali, with whom he had a lifelong friendship.
